Description

An antibiotic complex produced by Streptomyces kitasatoensis. The complex consists of a mixture of at least eight biologically active components, A1 and A3 to A9. Leucomycins have both antibacterial and antimycoplasmal activities. Leucomycin (Kitasamycin) is an orally active macrolide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces kitasatoensis. Leucomycin has broad-spectrum antibacterial activities against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycoplasma, leptospira, spirochaetes, rickettsiae and some larger viruses Leucomycin.
